Follow-Up Procedures After Periodontal Surgery
After the periodontal surgery has been undertaken, the dental patient may have mild to moderate discomfort. To control the pain, the periodontist may prescribe a pain medication. With just an over-the-counter pain medication, many people can become comfortable. While the surgical site is under healing process, it is very crucial to keep the mouth as clean as possible. This means that you should resume to the normal brushing and flossing of teeth. You can gently remove plaque from teeth using a toothbrush if the surgical site is not covered by a periodontal pack. After a periodontal surgery, natural oral rinses are commonly prescribed by dental hygienist because they kill bacteria so as to allow faster healing of the mouth.
