Brushing and flossing of teeth can be difficult when swollen gums occur. Bad breath can be a social disturbance. Both bad breath and swollen gums are signs of something much more serious such gingivitis. Because this symptoms appears to be mild, it is easy for individuals to ignore them. Nevertheless, when gingivitis remains untreated it can progress into an advanced gum disease known as periodontitis.
The tissue and bone that support teeth are destroyed by periodontitis, causing loss of teeth. The truth of the matter is that periodontal disease can also be transmitted to your loved ones through saliva. Individuals should be vigilant regarding the other warning signs of gum disease which includes: spaces developing between your teeth, pus between your teeth and gums, loose teeth and receding gums.
